Sometimes it might feel like everyone else is taking, or experimenting with, drugs except you. Dont worry! Most young people do not take drugs and those who do are a very small minority.

Feeling pressure to take drugs?

Know your own mind, make your own decision about whether or not you want to try drugs - it makes it easier to stay true to who you are.
Say no clearly, don't feel that you have to change your mind if someone pressures you. Everyone should respect one another and they may want something in return if you accept.
Try not to worry about what others think about you, your own opinion of yourself is the most important thing.

Legal Highs

Glues, gases and aerosols: using these substances is known as Volatile Substance Misuse (VSM). Although these are legal to buy, they are not legal if used in this way. It is illegal for anyone under the age of 18 to be sold volatile substances if they think they are to be inhaled. Use of these substances can cause heart attacks, difficulty breathing or death through passing out and choking on your own vomit.

'Novel Psychoactive Substances' (NPS) used to be known as 'legal highs' but the law has changed and they are now ILLEGAL. Some are sold under their street name and others known by their chemical name. Very little is known about the risks involved in taking these drugs in both the short term and long term. Some of these drugs can leads to seizures, comas or even death.
